ProjectGiving, Sharing, Praying, Caring

Project Romania is a Christian Charity which was established in September 1998. The work of the organisation is dependant on volunteers. Their work is primarily in Sighisoara and the surrounding villages in the Transylvania area of Romania.

Reverend Norman and Linda Patterson work as full time volunteer representatives overseeing the distribution of aid and co-ordinating the teams of volunteers who come to Romania.

Rpc Youth Team Journey

Below is an update received from Christopher having returned safely from Romania

Hi David,

Well as you know we're home safe and sound from Romania and what stories we have to tell!  I'm pleased to say we got everything done that we set out to do, the houses Tig Mandru are now painted, have fencing around them and also have a very nice concrete path to the wash house as well.  The site at Laslea has been cleared and the holes for the fencing there have also been dug, I think they mix Titanium in with the concrete, it was worse than digging the road!  Also thanks to Ben all the poles for the fence are cut and welded and ready for the next team out to set.  Everyone has worked so hard for the last 12 days although we did get a break on Wednesday and went to a spa at Basna in the afternoon, man it was so good!

We washed and cut hair in Tig Mandru for the children and the girls got stuck right in and got more water on themselves than on the children!  Also did a couple of children outreach programs in two very poor villages, I think seeing poverty that close and that harsh has effected us all.  Again though our team got stuck right in and playing quite happily with them all as well as painting some faces of both the young and the not so young!

God has blessed us in so many ways on this trip, we have all had our moments of emotion, mine was last night at the prayer meeting!  All of us however have drawn closer to God and shown His love and mercy in action and praise Him for that.  We have had success not by our own efforts but by the power of the Holy Spirit indwelling each of us, also the prayer time that has been invested by so many has paid dividends for God's glory.  As was said last night in the prayer meeting, before we left we prayed that God would allow our return people to return as giants of His faith and that prayer has been answered in a mighty fashion.  It doesn't stop now that we're home though, we have the home mission field to work in now and I pray that God and RPC will give these young people and all of the leaders the opportunity to work in it.  We are a church family that has been blessed in so many ways by God and it's time we started to give them back to Him in praise and service.

Thank you to all who have supported this time in any way should it have been in giving of your time, your money or for interceding on our behalf, you have all been part of this team in your own little way and I thank God for all your gifts.  I'll sign off with a thought I shared on our last night in Romania, C.S. Lewis writes that most people think of God as an airman thinks of a parachute; they always like to have one but hope they never have to use it.  It's time we all started skydiving.

Yours in Christ.

Christopher
